Vidalia Honors Its Own As Season Start Of April 22 Draws Near

One night a year, the 100 farmers who bring you every single sweet Vidalia onion grown worry a little less about the crop in the field and a little more about what they have to be thankful for.

That new crop of sweet Vidalia onions is heading to market beginning at midnight April 22. But who’s the new Vidalia Onion Grower of the Year and the new Vidalia Hall of Fame inductee?

For the second time in five years, McLain Farms was honored as Grower of the Year.

And for the first time ever, Vidalia elected a seed breeder, Roy Kreizenbec of BEJO Seeds, to the Vidalia Onion Hall of Fame.

We were there to catch all the action in this piece that also ran on our broadcast partner The RFD-TV Network.

Look for an update on the 2019 Vidalia onion crop from soon here and on RFD-TV. And be sure to tune in when we’ll be broadcasting live from Vidalia on opening day of the season.
