Since May, we’ve been tracking the progress of The Official White House Christmas tree that will be the center of attention in the Blue Room this holiday season.
In September, we joined a team from The White House in Newland, NC at the home of Christmas tree farmer Larry Smith, named 2017 Grand Champion grower by the National Christmas Tree Association and the supplier of the 2018 White House tree, to select this year’s Blue Room guest-of-honor (click here to see that report).
The winner was a 25-year old Fraser fir, almost 20 feet tall and 9 feet across at the base.
Last week we made our way back to Newland for the harvest of the tree and the first leg of the journey to The White House in this report that also aired on our broadcast partner The RFD-TV Network.
Monday, we’ll head to Washington as the First Lady unveils the 2018 White House Christmas decor. And we’ll be bringing it all to you in a half-hour special holiday event that’s a co-production of SPW and RFD-TV. Stay tuned for more!
