Vidalia onion harvest recently wrapped up — now those famous onions will be coming to stores from storage throughout the summer.
This year’s Vidalia crop came in at about 5 million, 40-pound cartons — 3 million of those went into storage to carry through until the Peruvian sweet deal comes on this fall.
But the original Vidalia onion was actually the result of a happy accident during The Great Depression. We spent some time with some farmers and folks in Vidalia to find out more in this report that first aired on RFD-TV’s Market Day Report.
