During its March board meeting the National Mango Board (NMB) came together to elect new officers for the 2018 year.
The NMB officers will fulfill their duties and responsibilities by leading the board in accordance with the Commodity Promotion, Research, and Information Act of 1996, and the Mango Order.
It was announced that Michael Warren of Pompano Beach, FL will serve as Chair, and Joella Shiba of Hidalgo, TX as Vice-Chair. Serving as Secretary is Marsela McGrane of Los Angeles, CA, and elected as Treasurer is Chris Ciruli of Tucson, AZ.
The NMB officers, together with the rest of the board members, will continue to uphold the NMB’s mission to increase consumption of fresh mangos in the U.S. by bringing the industry together and educating consumers about the flavor, nutrition and health of mangos.
“I would like to thank our newly elected officers for their commitment to this organization and to the mango industry,” stated Manuel Michel, Executive Director of the NMB. “These are very exciting times for the mango industry, though we still face several challenges that will need to be addressed to continue our progress. The leadership and knowledge that the officers and board members bring to the NMB is the beacon that keeps us moving forward.”
