Industry analyst and consultant Anne-Marie Roerink of 210 Analytics is an expert on marketing produce from farm to retail. Her travels take her to stores around the world. Every week, Anne-Marie shares one of her favorite retail displays or grower marketing success stories with a photo and her thoughts on why these are Ideas Ripe For The Picking.
What I love about this: Produce is a visually beautiful department and taking advantage of the colors and variety to create eye-catching displays is a great way to draw shoppers into the department.
Despite a household penetration of 99 percent, not all trips contain produce. In fact, only some six in 10 trips do, according to Nielsen and IRI.
That means it’s important to draw shoppers into the produce department for improved trip conversion and what better than using the natural beauty of fruits and vegetables to catch shoppers’ eyes.
Often times, they need to walk through produce to reach fill-in items like milk or bread. Make sure you interrupt their trip to the dairy case with seasonal fruits, eye-catching displays or samples to become the “plus one.”
