During the holiday season, Produce for Kids will donate one meal to aid in Feeding America’s® disaster relief efforts for every share of its Holiday Meal Drive Facebook post and new Produce for Kids Facebook fan. Produce for Kids’ first Holiday Meal Drive took place during the 2016 holiday season and helped to secure 15,223 meals for families in need through Feeding America.

“After the success of our first Holiday Meal Drive last year, we knew it only made sense to launch the holiday-centric campaign again in 2017,” said Trish James, vice president, Produce for Kids. “Knowing people affected by recent disasters are still rebuilding and are still in need, we made the decision to donate directly to these relief efforts.”

To help raise awareness of the Holiday Meal Drive, Produce for Kids has planned a targeted social media campaign, dedicated e-newsletters, blog posts and more. Throughout the drive, Produce for Kids will be partnering with bloggers to encourage families to complete a random act of kindness during the holiday season. In addition, the Produce for Kids team, including blog contributors, will be volunteering at local Feeding America food banks for Giving Tuesday.

“During the holidays, we see messaging everywhere about giving back to people in need. With the Holiday Meal Drive, we’ve made it easy for individuals to do just that,” continues James. “With one click, they can provide a meal to someone who has been affected by recent natural disasters.”

Produce for Kids was recently recognized as a Feeding America Mission Partner based on the substantial philanthropic investments Produce for Kids made during the 2016-2017 Fiscal Year. Produce for Kids’ programs have provided more than 7 million meals to families in need through the Feeding America network or 200 food banks and expects to provide 5.5 million meals over the next two years.

Meals raised through the Holiday Meal Drive will go to areas affected by recent hurricanes, including Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, as well as the recent wildfires in California. Through in-store and online programs over the last 15 years, Produce for Kids has donated more than $6 million to charities like Feeding America that benefit families and children.
