HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC —We made you wait a week, but we promise it’s worth it — here’s Part 2 of SPW’s exclusive interview with Southern Innovations keynote speaker Daphne Oz, author, TV star and the daughter of a very famous doctor. (You can see Part 1 HERE)
She talks about Dad in this one — and about growing up Oz. There;s also more on babies, books and what she might do next (or later — baby number three is on the way and takes top priority now).
Daphne left ABC-TV’s The Chew after six seasons this August. Her first book, The Dorm Room Diet (Newmarket Press, 2006), advanced her approach to avoiding the dreaded “Freshman 15.” In 2007, she published The Dorm Room Diet Planner (Newmarket Press). In 2012, she collaborated with the rest of the cast of The Chew to author The Chew: Food. Life. Fun.
She is also is author of the New York Times bestselling Relish: An Adventure in Food, Style, and Everyday Fun. The book contains recipes, tips, relationship and career advice, and the author’s personal anecdotes. She’s also written for Glamour and The Huffington Post and the five-part “Food for Thought” column for Creators Syndicate.
But Sept. 29, she was onstage at the Westin Hilton Head Resort to address attendees of the 2017 Southeast Produce Council Southern Exposure Organics and Foodservice Expo.
Her speech was a sellout smash. We can’t show you that for contractual reasons (hers, not ours) but we did get a chance to sit down with Daphne afterwards for her insights on organics, what millennials want, and where food in general is heading from here.
Oz was “The Chew’s” fresh face of healthy living and resident practical tipster, sharing helpful information and her unique personal insights to make healthy living fun, easy and — above all — delicious. For Daphne, it’s all about being healthy and happy. This means fresh, flavorful foods that are easy to prepare, smart ingredient swaps to help save on calories, and plenty of room for worthy indulgences.
