HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — Some things are just too good to gobble up all at once — like SPW’s exclusive interview with Southern Innovations keynote speaker Daphne Oz, author, TV star and the daughter of a very famous doctor (rhymes with boz).
But we knew Daphne long before that. Her first book, The Dorm Room Diet (Newmarket Press, 2006), advanced her approach to avoiding the dreaded “Freshman 15.”
In 2007, she published The Dorm Room Diet Planner (Newmarket Press). In 2012, she collaborated with the rest of the cast of The Chew to author The Chew: Food. Life. Fun.
She is also is author of the New York Times bestselling Relish: An Adventure in Food, Style, and Everyday Fun. The book contains recipes, tips, relationship and career advice, and the author’s personal anecdotes.
Daphne has also written articles for Glamour and The Huffington Post and the five-part “Food for Thought” column for Creators Syndicate.
But Sept. 29, she was onstage at the Westin Hilton Head Resort to address attendees of the 2017 Southeast Produce Council Southern Exposure Organics and Foodservice Expo.
Her speech was a sellout smash. We can’t show you that for contractual reasons (hers, not ours) but we did get a chance to sit down with Daphne afterwards for her insights on organics, what millennials want, and where food in general is heading from here.
She was so good we had to break this one in two parts. Look for the second half in SPW Oct. 13.
