Costco’s Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board Jeff Brotman passed away Aug. 1.
Brotman was a Seattle attorney when he and James Sinegal opened the first Costco in1983, with the motto “Do the right thing.”
Today, the motto remains unchanged, but there are 736 Costco warehouses, 225 of those international locations.
Brotman, 74, died in his sleep at his home in Medina, WA. No cause was announced.
Just the night before Brotman had attended a dinner for about 2,000 Costco warehouse managers from around the world who had gathered for a conference this week at the Washington State Convention Center.
