Conscious Capitalism Co-CEO Doug Rauch, Ready Pac Foods CEO Tony Sarsam and Bruce Taylor of Taylor Farms will be the three most visible people in Chicago next week at the revamped 2017 United Fresh Show June 13-15, each providing keynote presentations for the show’s new format.

The United Fresh 2017 Joint Opening General Session will take place June 14, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago. Once again, United Fresh will co-locate with the Global Cold Chain Expo and the International Floriculture Expo – all converging onto one show floor in the West Hall of the McCormick Place Convention Center – with the debut of United FreshTEC and United FreshMKT.

For the first time the United Fresh segment of the show will be split into two segments to provide programming and information more tailored to individual companies in and serving the produce industry. FreshMKT will focus on marketing while FreshTEC will focus on technology.

The goal is to provide material that’s more germane to specific attendees than the previous, broader United platform.

Rauch, Co-CEO of Conscious Capitalism, will deliver the keynote at the 2017 United Fresh, International Floriculture Expo, and Global Cold Chain Expo Joint Opening General Session June 14.

Rauch previously spent 31 years with Trader Joe’s Company, the last 14 as president before leaving in 2008.  His work with Conscious Capitalism looks at how four specific tenets — higher purpose, stakeholder integration, conscious leadership, and conscious culture — can simultaneously build stronger businesses and improve society as a whole.

FreshTEC kicks off June 13 at noon with a keynote address from Taylor Farms CEO Bruce Taylor, who promises an inspiring call to embrace the future of fresh technology. As an early adopter of technology in both the field and processing plant, Bruce will share lessons learned from early adoption hurdles and his predictions on the future of changing technology’s impact on our industry.

At the same time, Ready Pac Foods CEO Tony Sarsam will jumpstart the FreshMKT forum with a keynote address looking at the changing face of fresh foods, followed by expert discussions focused on consumer trends, how the “foodie” culture is created and the experience of consuming food, and explore growth opportunities on the horizon of fresh foods. United Fresh will also present its 2017 FreshTEC and FreshMKT Achievement Awards to two leaders who have made their mark on the fresh produce industry.

Receiving the FreshTEC award for outstanding technical achievements is Peter Quiring, Owner & CEO of NatureFresh Farms, whose leadership has helped advance the fresh produce industry through innovation in greenhouse technologies.

Receiving the FreshMKT award for outstanding marketing achievements is Roger Pepperl, Marketing Director for Stemilt Growers, for his significant innovations in the marketing and merchandising of fresh produce.

Other events new to United Fresh this year are a food safety pavilion in the FreshTEC arena and an organic showcase on the FreshMKT side, as well as the Hygienic Design Summit June 14

Networking events will include the opening night party June 13 at the Shedd Aquarium and the June 15 Chairman’s Reception and Retail-Foodservice Celebration Dinner, the latter of which honors selected retail produce managers as well as chefs.
